Sun, April 22, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

View Exhibition
Tarscape, Louisiana by Brooks Frederick.

Join Union Arts Center this Earth Day from 6-8 pm in bearing witness to historic and on-going ecological deviation as depicted by the master painters Brooks Frederick and Lisa Lebofsky. Frederick has been collecting and painting with crude oil from the shores of Louisiana since the  BP Deepwater Horizon Blowout in 2010. His use of the crude oil depicts the deviation brought to Louisiana in his tarscapes and haunting portraits those lives and livelihoods will never be the same.

Lebofsky, originally from the Rockland area has been traveling to the front lines of climate change, from the Arctic to the Maldives, to our own Long Island coast, she has been documenting what seems so intangible but is already forming our lives. Water Ways also includes an alternative: Elaine Su-Hui depicts examples peace and harmony with intricate hand carved block prints that honors our Earth and the intimate relationships that need to be sustained in order to maintain the health of our planet.
