The World All Around
Event Navigation

The World All Around is the collaborative project of composer-performers Hayden Arp and Griffin Jennings. Both composition students at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, their work is based on the structural foundations of folk songwriting, but evokes the harmonic richness of romantic-era classical music and the dynamism of contemporary electronic music. Their current project is an album titled “The Towers We Lived In,” inspired by the work of singular children’s book author Maurice Sendak. In the Spring of 2016, they performed the album with a 26-person ensemble in Oberlin’s Warner Concert Hall to over 200 people. This fall, the duo is taking a semester off from school to complete the record. In January, they will be touring the East Coast and Midwest to perform the piece with a string quartet. Both Hayden and Griffin have worked as solo musicians as well – this last year Hayden toured multiple times with indie-rock musician Lucy Dacus and released “For Gabriel,” an EP ThrdCoast described as “Beautiful and elegiac.”
With special guest Ethan Cohen.
